• AN APPROACH FOR SOLVING FUZZY TRANSPORTATION PROBLEM USING DODECAGONAL FUZZY NUMBER

Abstract


In this paper, a new form of fuzzy number named as Dodecagonal Fuzzy Number is introduced. Because it is not always possible to restrict the membership function to either triangular or trapezoidal form. Although Dodecagonal Fuzzy Number seems complex when it is compared with the triangular or trapezoidal fuzzy number both in form and computational basis. But additional possibility that we get from Dodecagonal Fuzzy Number is that it represents imperfect knowledge which leads to the formation of an image of many real life problems. Dodecagonal Fuzzy Number provides flexibility to the decision maker to give his/her view using three different heights. Also, we have proved that optimal value for a fuzzy transportation problem, when solved using Dodecagonal Fuzzy Number gives a much more optimal value than when it is solved using Octagonal Fuzzy Number.
